Glowing Skin 101

Do you long for naturally gorgeous glowing skin that reflects the light? I dream bout having that almost impossible to achieve luminous skin all my life, not knowing that it is achievable with the right ingredients! No, I’m not going to blab about the cliché skin care routine that all the beauty experts constantly stressing on. It is about what you consume that makes all the difference.

We are all aware of the fact that drinking milk is good for your health, yet, we avoid consuming milk regularly. But what you don’t know is that drinking milk is also beneficial for beauty and this information can really induce you to drink milk daily, like I do. This routine can give you smooth, supple and glowing skin. Milk is a highly rich source of riboflavin, which help to make your skin glow from within. Adequate intake of riboflavin or vitamin B2 can bestow you with healthy and glowing skin. The root to having glowing skin is a well moisturised hydrated skin, of course. Milk also contains amino acids which are capable to keep your skin moisturised and hydrated. Drinking milk on regular basis helps to retain moisture in skin. It will nourish your skin internally. However, those who suffer from acne or are prone to acne might want to be careful with milk as there are some indications that milk contains hormones that can cause acne to act up! I’m of the opinion that this may vary with individuals as based on what I’ve read and experience shared, not everyone suffers suffers from acne breakout drinking milk. Add a glass of milk to your diet from today and enjoy numerous beauty benefits of drinking milk! 🙂

I may not be the fairest maiden of them all, but I sure do have a clear glowing skin. And I am not to afraid to share the tips and tricks of getting that dream skin of yours. So here’s the second secret – lemon juice with water. Drinking lemon water in the morning or throughout the day, your pick, helps cleansing my body inside out, or in other words detoxification. And it gradually helped to bring a glow in my complexion internally. lemon has vitamin C which is also responsible for building up collagen in our skin. Collagen is necessary to keep the skin firm and young. Forget Botox and surgeries, just stick to lemon water and you will be just fine! Moreover, it is necessary to keep our digestive system in the right order and our metabolism high.

Besides lemon, take rose hips every morning to help build collagen in your skin. Rich in vitamin C, rose hips can help skin smooth and youthful. In my case, I consume vitamin C + rose hip 1000mg tablets (one tablet each day and night) to keep me going during the day and my skin beautiful. This combination (vit C + rose hips) has so many benefits to offer for both beauty and health. It gives a beautiful and even skin tone. And surprisingly, after religiously consuming this combination of supplement, I tend to recover from cold/flu faster than I usually do!

It should look something like this.

Your complexion looks radiant when it’s smooth enough to reflect light. Besides all the tips given above, do not forget to exfoliate on regular basis to avoid dead skin cells piling up. Always moisturise with your favourite moisturiser to retain moist on your skin, regardless if you have oily skin. So, good luck! Remember, pretty girls are happy girls! Or either way…whatever 😛

Sleep Savior

Who can forget the iconic Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s wearing an adorable eye mask? Who would have guessed such tiny sleeping accessory can aid a better sleep at night and your overall appearance. Sure it takes a little getting used to but once you do…it really makes a huge difference in your night of sleep!

Lacking sleep can not only effect our bodies such as making us sluggish, but it also effects the way our brain functions, slowing down our daily productivity and even diminishing our decision making skills. Not a good thing if you’re a mom of two little babies who are obviously depending on you as their superhero.

Eye masks are one of the best tools that can be used to overcome sleep problems and obtain restful relaxing sleep. When your brain senses pure darkness, it causes the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. When you block out both noise and light, your chances of falling asleep are improved. According to many many research that has been made, 7-8 hours of sleep will benefit your memory , weight, mood, and immunity. You have no idea how those can benefit modern women like all of us!

I started sleeping with an eye mask after I delivered my 2nd baby, Alfiya…when getting enough sleep was absolutely crucial. And I could never go back! The added darkness puts me deep into the desired REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep! Although there are so many medicines and patches out on sale to help you fall asleep, I prefer the natural, and inexpensive way method to have a good night’s sleep – the eye mask.

Try to opt for a comfy eye mask over cute, or in my case I got both!

Wanna look better in the morning – fresh and dewy complexion caused by a good night’s sleep? Get an eye sleep mask!

Good night, babes! *putting on eye mask and ear plugs*

Dressing ‘Like A Wife’

Most housewives and I don’t have much in common. For instance, they are amazing cooks and comfort is the key when it comes to choosing the most appropriate attire when doing chores at home or running around the house chasing your kids. Well, I’m a mediocre cook and live by the principe of avoid dressing ‘like a wife’. By this, I mean I refuse to adopt the slovenly uniform of tracksuit or palazzo bottoms and shapeless tops so many at-home wives embrace when they no longer have to worry about snaring a man, especially at home. Have you forgotten that our husbands are men too?

How typical housewives dress and how I used to dress at home.

I would never think about walking around the house or having dinner with my husband without slipping into something nice and alluring, brushing my hair and applying a layer of powder on my face and lipgloss on my lips. This is a routine that I recently practise after the third year of my marriage, which I intend to continue til my grey hair days.

One thing I keep telling myself that marriage is all about effort. On top of a demanding job as a mother, I exercise and take supplements daily, organise home as it should be, dress meticulously and have an active interest in the world.

Marriage is also about mutual respect. When someone can’t be bothered put on nice clothes for you, it’s saying they can’t be bothered with you. I’ve nagged about this matter to Sweetie Pie like a zillion times, pushing him to dress better when going out with me and the children. He could have done it then, why not now? But I don’t really take it seriously though. If a worn out yellow Ryder slippers are in, they’ll wear them, regardless.

Being at home is no excuse to let standards slide. Every morning I resist the temptation to simply stay in my pyjamas. Such slobbishness is one of the downsides of being a stay-at-home wife and mom. And instead, put on some makeup and decent fitted clothes. For it is the very act of grooming that reminds me I am a woman, hopefully an attractive one. And before my husband gets home, if I am feeling unkempt, I change again. I’m sure slobbish women will ask “Who has the time?”, but it takes me 5 minutes to change outfits. But divorcing because you’ve let yourself go and your husband no longer fancies you, and instead is attracted to someone who has maintained her appearance, now that takes REAL time!

Many will also ask, “Why bother with this superficial stuff?”. In maintaining your weight, wearing flattering, stylish clothes (and sexy underwear too), wearing makeup (light yet presentable to enhance your features), you are sending a message to your husband and the world that you are worth caring about. People really do appreciate the effort, even strangers you bump into at the grocery store.

Make up and hair done, just for a regular grocery shopping routine.

Not all women are born naturally beautiful, but the wonderful thing about clothes and makeup is that they….make up for it! We dress up when we meet our girlfriends, when we go out for dinner, to weddings or even the malls, so why shouldn’t we dress up when we see our husbands in the evening? After all, marriage is the most significant long-term relationship most of us will ever have. Children will eventually head off to university at 18, leaving you staring at each other over dinner, so hopefully something remains between you.

Dressing casually yet appropriate while my husband is not at home.

So, wives out there, live by a principe to never dress ‘like a wife’, or you will end up driving your husband away.

Before I forget, to all Malaysians, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan Kita!

The Mommy Diaries

Motherhood has changed me. Having my daughters shaped me into the woman I was meant to be. Because of my love for them, i began to love myself in a way that should have been taught to me in my childhood days. Having those cutie pies made me want to live up to all that they deserved in a mother and in an example of a woman. I’m living my life to set an example for my daughters, so that when they see my struggles and successes, they know that they can achieve their own goals in life. And that I mean by everything, from the smallest accomplishments to major life decisions. At the moment, I might not be the greatest role model as I am still a baby in a diaper, making my crawls into motherhood, balancing my life between home (house, husband and kids) and my amazing (?) self.

Before my daughters, I dedicated every moment to building a brand for myself. But now, I am dedicated to creating special experiences and memories with my family.

Being a housewife is not as easy as it may sound. And I believe you have heard of that. Despite enjoying what I do, I am constantly inspired by hardworking strong women across the globe who work everyday to support themselves and create better opportunities for their families, both here in Malaysia and abroad. People around the world want the same thing : self-respect and a means to take care of their families. These are the women that inspire me everyday.

People say make your life’s passion your life’s work. And once you do, do not compromise based on the opinion of others. You hafta know who you are inside and out to truly accomplish your goals. It will eventually teach your kids to work hard as well. Instead of guilt from working, there will be joy from setting an example. I might not have found one at this very moment, but I’m taking baby steps by continuing on with this blog, writing about things I love. It may take me somewhere, or not, but at least it is something that I love to do besides reading books or scrolling Instagram when I am not cleaning the house, cooking meals for the family or changing diapers. I hope to set the example that my girls should choose what they are passionate about and live out loud for it.

Okay, enough rambling. Time to take the cutie pies to bed now. Til the next post!

I’m Officially Back – The Sequel

Okay, where do I begin? Perhaps a little feast of cuteness for the eyes?

Introducing my two cutie pies, descendants of my Sweetie Pie!

Anya & Alfiya..

Honestly, I don’t know how to begin this, but recently I’ve been truly inspired by encouragement of supportive friends (you guys know who you are). They advised me to continue blogging as some of them were loyal silent readers. And one of them even mentioned the fact that she frequently came back to my humble blog page to refresh her memory on the tips I’ve shared here. How could I not be flattered with that kinda statement?

So, here I am. Trying to make things happen. To tell you the truth, it really is not easy to allocate time to spend in front of this Mac writing a post with my two little girls doing……God knows what they are doing together somewhere near their toy box. I’m trying to ignore the fact that they are turning the living hall into a junk yard.

I will continue from where I left off. This blog is truly dedicated to all fashionistas, ballerinas, beauty junkies, as well as housewives who are bored outta their minds….like MYSELF!

Til the next post (which I can guarantee you they will be just around the corner), babes! Do not forget to click FOLLOW!

Defeating Dark Under Eye Circles

Yerp.. The issue that bothers me more than zits or ingrown hairs – is dark under eye circles. It’s serious a universally annoying beauty concern. And I’ve literally been battling with it my whole life. Okay, that’s a little bit too much. Well, they officially started wmaking their debut under my eyes when I was 18. Somewhere around after SPM (when I was busy not sleeping and making a bad choice for my youth and beauty… Sitting in front of the computer, chatting on MIRC) and while busy being a freshie at university.

Dark circles are officially the worst. They make you look tired, even when I’m not tired, and sometimes they even make you look sick – enough to make some concern samaritan to offer you a seat on the train. I’ve been covering them for years now and honestly, I’m tired of doing so! Being a loving husband, Sweetie Pie once told me that those dark under eye circles were sexy. Sexy enough to make it on his Twitter and Facebook timeline… Just to make me feel better. I appreciate that, Honey, but I’m no fool to these cursed dark half-moon that plague so many of us.

Even with a layer of powder, they are still visible. Unlucky me, I’m not a fan of concealers.

Too many late nights is not the only cause of dark circles. There are other several factors such as diet, skin thickness, tone, and aging. As we age, the under eye skin area becomes thinner, such that the larger blue-ish colored veins are more visible. Chronic rubbing of the eyes can also increase the melanin pigment in the area which contributes to dark circles. Apparently, that happens to be a habit of mine 😦 I’m not gonna elaborate on poor diet coz eventually, poor diet leads to everything that women dread of. Who eats right these days, anyway? Do not answer unless you’re an A-list celebrity, or has a personal chef wandering around your kitchen.

So what can we do?

You guessed it – eat more veggies and get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, for starters. How boring. And also, it’s best to wear sunscreen everyday, even when you’re indoors. Apparently, that trick works for me and magically lessen the appearance of my dark circles. I can’t believe noone ever tells me that when I’m younger! A tiny dab of SPF under the eye area can fight UV rays that stream in from outside towards skin that is photosensitive. How does skin become photosensitive? Easy peasy. From screens such as your laptops, mobile phones, tabs, and your other sophisticated gadgets, and not forgetting indoor lights which produce cumulative skin photoreactivity over time. Lastly, avoid processed food and eat healthily, especially at night.

For a quick fix of those hideous dark eye cicles, of course, nothing beats the camoflage of simple make up tricks. But always remember that less is more, no matter how dark your circles are. You don’t want your concealer cracking and flaking, looking heaving and cakey. Like I mentioned earlier, I’m not a fan of concealers. I believe in a tiny dab of tinted SPF, then face powder shall do the trick. But it really depends on how chronic your dark circles are, and concealers will never fail you.

Steps for applying concealer:

1. Clean, tone and moisturize your face.

2. Apply your foundation or base.

3. Look for darker pigmented area under the eye, then gently dot concealer evenly only onto the darkened skin using a brush or finger tips. People often apply concealer all over the under eye area (that would be me years ago), which can actually highlight dark circles instead of diminishing them.

4. Blend concealer properly.

5. Highlight the high planes of your face such as your cheekbones, and the bridge of your nose to draw attention away from dark circles.

6. Use translucent powder to set your makeup.

Hope you will the tips above useful. And remember ladies, THE EYES ARE THE WINDOW TO YOUR SOUL.

I’m Officially Back!

Hmmm.. Where do I begin?

For starters, has anyone missed me?!

I know I’ve been gone for such a long long time. Been busy. To those who are not updated with my so not glamorous life, I’m currently a full time housewife & mother. Lucky me? You better think again, dear friend. It is a lot tougher than you think it is. There were times I felt like giving up or cried my heart out, but the moment you saw that little sweet smile on her tiny face, you simply clicked the refresh button and moved on.

Yerp, that’s my cheeky sometimes obnoxious baby girl, Anya. And now that I’m 5 months pregnant of her little baby bro/sis, she has become more obnoxious and clingy than ever. She has gone into that I-only-want-mommy ‘s phase. How exciting for me :S

Anyway, I’m back for a reason. I won’t be posting bout my boring self on this blog anymore. I obviously have no freaking idea bout relationships, boys or marriage for that matter, coz like I’ve mentioned in my previous post years ago, I’m no Carrie Bradshaw. I’ve hold on to the same boy since 2009, and eventually married that unlucky (haha, I bet you’re nodding your head there, Honey!) boy. What’s so adventurous bout that right?

So, in my next post and the posts after, I’ll be blogging bout what I know best, BEAUTY. Hell yeah! I even went all the way to beauty school on scholarship just to know bout that shit. But apparently, that shit is highly important to all girls like how important sex is to guys. Like it or not, girls will go all the way to moon and back to make themselves beautiful, or at least feel beautiful, just like how far guys will go to get laid. LOL! Don’t get me wrong, guys! I’m far beyond sexist.

So, ladies! Keep coming back for useful tips bout makeup, skin and hair care, as well as overall being.

Nadd’s Engagement

It was my Nadd’s engagement a week before we left for Penang!!

It is exciting to see your close friends getting hitched…one by one. No words can express that.

(With the Fightersz)

(With lil Sofea..Bewna’s sweet adorable daughter)

Anyway, here’s another congrats shout out to you, Nadd:

Hard Rock Penang

It was our 1st getaway of the year. Hopefully there’s more to come though..

Anyway, it was the 7th April, his birthday. So I’ve planned a perfect getaway for the 2 of us to escape from our normal boring routine….at Hard Rock Hotel Penang!!

Stayed for 2 nights at Hard Rock’s Lagoon Deluxe and it was amazing! From our room balcony, straight to the pool!

(Sweetie Pie chilling out)

Spent most of our time by the pool, but of course we didn’t forget we were in Penang. Time to do something exciting and outdoor-ish, such as paragliding!!

(Up we go!)

The view from the top was breath taking! The wind was so strong and it totally blew us away! It was just as perfect as watching the sunset by the beach with my loved one.

A birthday dinner celebration was at Hard Rock Cafe. And folks, try on The Legendary burger if you’re ever at Hard Rock Cafe. It was to die for!

Well, it has been awhile since I last came to Penang. During my absence, I had no idea that they actually built Direct Factory Outlets there! Nobody can separate me from factory outlets, and I think everyone is aware of that! Shopping had to appear in my To-Do List in Penang!

God, I love Penang…

Sun, sea, sand, pool by the room and factory outlets!

(It was mail box..really)

(Ballet in the water)

And how could anyone go to Penang without cruising on the famous yellow wheel ferry right?

Before we left for KL, we stopped by Alor Setar to visit Sweetie Pie’s hometown and Royal’s Nasi Lemak.

It was a perfect road trip for the 2 of us and sadly, now we’re back to reality. He’s off to a platform in Bintulu, while I ends up being a Manager On Duty during the weekend at the gym. Sucks to be back.

Anyway, have a good weekend folks!

Hustle Bustle

One hectic week..

A rescue mission for a tortoise we named Rafael, outrageous weekdays at the office, Saturday routine at the ballet studio, and a penny a day into my adorable giant Lipstick bank that my husband bought for me. And my giant Lipstick is getting so heavy these days.  Can’t wait to finally break it open when it’s fully loaded.

Have a good weekend, peeps!
